KUALA LUMPUR, October 2026 – A nutritious meal can do more than satisfy hunger. It can give a child the energy to learn, the confidence to participate in class and the opportunity to look forward to a brighter future. In conjunction with World Food Day, Hektar Asset Management Sdn Bhd, the Manager of Hektar Real Estate Investment Trust (“Hektar REIT”), is extending a helping hand to underprivileged children through a RM10,000 meal sponsorship for Dignity for Children Foundation Malaysia (“Dignity”).

The contribution supports Dignity’s Daily Meals Programme, which provides daily meals for 100 underprivileged children throughout October 2026. Beyond putting food on the table, the initiative highlights how access to proper nutrition can make a meaningful difference in children’s education, development and overall well-being, particularly for those growing up in marginalised communities.

More Than a Meal: Fuel for Learning and Growth

What does a school day look like when children have access to nutritious food? For the children supported by Dignity, it means having a balanced main meal and a snack every school day, Monday through Friday, freshly prepared in the foundation’s on-site kitchen.

The Daily Meals Programme features a rotating, child-friendly menu that balances dietary needs with familiar favourites. From chicken fried rice and protein-rich dhal curry to Malaysia’s beloved nasi lemak, the meals offer variety while helping children receive the nourishment they need. Midday snacks, including milk, fresh fruit and biscuits, provide an additional boost throughout the day.

And the benefits go beyond the dining table. When children have access to regular, nutritious meals, they are better equipped to maintain their energy and concentration in class. With hunger-related distractions reduced, they can participate more actively in lessons, focus on learning and make the most of their time at school.

Building Stronger Communities, One Child at a Time

For Hektar REIT, supporting the communities around its properties means looking beyond business operations and contributing to initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.

The organisation has consistently championed community-focused efforts, particularly those that benefit children and families. Its collaboration with Dignity reflects a shared commitment to helping young people access the essential support they need to learn, grow and pursue better opportunities.

Established in 1988, Dignity is a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalised and underprivileged children through education and holistic development. Its work recognises that helping children thrive involves much more than academic lessons alone.

Through a combination of academic education, vocational exposure, life skills training, personal development, healthcare and nutrition, Dignity seeks to equip children with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to build a better future and break the cycle of poverty.

By supporting the Daily Meals Programme, Hektar REIT is helping Dignity create a more nurturing learning environment where children can concentrate on their education and personal growth without the additional burden of food insecurity.

The initiative also supports three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”): SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), reinforcing the importance of addressing hunger, promoting healthier lives and creating more inclusive communities.

A Commitment That Goes Beyond Today

Sabrina Halim, Chief Operating Officer of Hektar Asset Management

Sabrina Halim, Chief Operating Officer of Hektar Asset Management, said, “Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their full potential, and access to proper nutrition plays an important role in making that possible. Through our collaboration with Dignity, we hope to contribute towards creating a supportive environment where children can focus on their education and development while receiving the daily nourishment they need.”

She added, “Dignity’s work in providing education and holistic development opportunities to underprivileged children reflects the importance of addressing both immediate needs and long-term opportunities. At Hektar REIT, we believe that meaningful community initiatives should go beyond providing short-term assistance by contributing towards lasting positive outcomes. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusive and resilient communities.”

As World Food Day shines a spotlight on the importance of food security and nutrition, Hektar REIT’s contribution serves as a reminder that small acts of support can help create meaningful opportunities for children. By bringing together nutrition, education and community care, the collaboration aims to help more children approach each school day ready to learn, discover their potential and take another step towards a brighter future.
