Yesterday, I found myself at GSC Midvalley Megamall, joining fellow Loki enthusiasts for a sneak peek of the long-anticipated Loki Season 2. It was a special occasion for me, rekindling my excitement for Tom Hiddleston’s charismatic portrayal, complete with his signature long black hair and theatrical head toss.
This exclusive screening, courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar, treated us not only to one but two episodes from the upcoming season. To add an extra layer of fun, attendees decked out in Loki Variants (Green) attire had the chance to participate in lively quizzes before the main event. The anticipation was building, making the entire experience a promising prelude.
As the first episode unfolded, I was relieved to see the lingering Season 1 cliffhanger addressed right from the start. Tom Hiddleston seamlessly slipped back into his role, making the two-year-long hiatus feel like a mere blink. The dynamic between Loki and Mobius (played by Owen Wilson) was just as delightful, if not better than before. It was pure entertainment.
Admittedly, the time-jump jargon might throw you off a bit—I, a devoted Loki fan, had my moments of confusion. However, the cast cleverly scattered breadcrumbs throughout the show, helping even the less savvy viewers catch up with the temporal twists.
The addition of Academy Award-winner Ke Huy Quan as Ouroboros, a.k.a. OB, brought a brilliant and sparkly touch to an already captivating show. I can’t fathom why some critics labeled Season 2 a flop because, let’s be real, it absolutely isn’t!
Now, forgive this slight detour, but can we talk about the sheer delight of watching Tom Hiddleston dash around in a suit? He exudes James Bond vibes, and I can’t be the only one secretly hoping for a Loki espionage spinoff.
While Episode 2 may have had a more leisurely pace than the first, the introduction of Sylvie provided valuable insights into her motivations. The palpable tension between the two Loki variants left me eagerly anticipating the next twists and turns in their unfolding story.
Kang, or He Who Remains, and Renslayer are characters I’m keeping a keen eye on as well. The depth and uniqueness of Loki’s storyline set it apart from the standard Marvel superhero fare. Needless to say, I’m counting down the days until the next episodes of Loki Season 2!
For those in Malaysia, mark your calendars for October 6th when Loki Season 2 hits Disney+ Hotstar. All six episodes will be released every Friday, offering a thrilling exploration of what transpires in the aftermath of He Who Remains’ demise. Whether you’re a dedicated MCU enthusiast or simply have a soft spot for Tom Hiddleston (like myself!), this series is a must-watch.
Oof! And I absolutely love the goodies from Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia!
